Waking Hallow
"But, hark! there is the whistle of the locomotive-the long shriek, harsh, above all other harshness, for the space of a mile cannot mollify it into harmony."
-From Sleepy Hallow, by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Our society has created a world of our own, separated from "nature", a dangerous place that resembles madness, stress, and pollution. What really separates us from the rest of the world, is our misconception of "nature". We thought it is pastoral and harmonious, but in reality, it is ugly and disorganised.
Think about how wasps behave in "nature", or how predation function. The era is no longer about achieving equilibrium, nor is it "survival of the fittest". We are now in the era of Networking. For we are looking for new ways of interactions: boy and grass, grass and deers, deers and tics, tics and plastics, plastics and water bodies, water bodies and algae... building up a network of things, asking if there is a connection, if so what kind of connection?
So that one day, walking to take the bus, when we hear the sound of a gigantic vehicles interrupting our stream of thought, we do not fear, or feel agitated, we simply walk quickly or even run to catch the bus.
